The Lavaca County Czech Heritage Society of Texas

The Czech Society recently celebrated its 20th year in existence with right at 100 members.  Over the years, club members have strengthened community and family bonds deeply rooted in the Czech culture.  Members have volunteered countless times in services such as planning and organizing the State Tarock tournament, participating in nursing home visits and activities, providing scholarship donations, providing invaluable resources for genealogy, assisting with festivals, and other community events.  The CHS is open to any individual interested in preserving and celebrating the Czech culture.  We welcome new members with open arms and minds!  Please view the Join CHS tab to learn how to become a member of this society.

Queen, Princess & Little Sisters Contest, Coronation, Held Sunday, February 26, 2012

As the society continues to grow, an emphasis was placed on keeping the Czech Heritage alive in new generations.  With this idea in mind, the Czech-Slovak Queen pageants were started. Over the past few years, the Lavaca County Czech Heritage Society has been blessed with many wonderful queens!  Beginning this year, 2011, the contest is expanding to include a Princess who will be an "Understudy" to the current Queen.  This Princess will then advance to Queen the following year.  Also, we will have a competition with Little Czech Sisters who accompany the Queen and Princess.  The past system was for the Queen to select her Little Sister, but to engage more participation, this has been changed to include more of the younger age group.

19th Annual Tarocky tournament

The 19th annual Hallettsville Traocky Tournament will be held at the KC Hall in Hallettsville on Sunday March 3.  Registration starts at 8 AM.  Registration fee per player is $25 which includes lunch and door prizes.
